The castle itself dates from the 15th century, set within 150 acres of beautiful parkland featuring a large loch and a nine hole golf course. What sets Guthrie Castle apart as a wedding venue is that the bride and groom have exclusive use of the entire estate for the duration of their stay at the castle, with the entire team of staff dedicated to making sure their big day goes perfectly.
With its magnificent grounds, outdoor weddings are a regular feature at Guthrie Castle, with sufficient space for wedding parties of 200+, although the clever layout means that parties of 30 or more can be accommodated equally well. The castle was owned by the Guthrie family from the mid 15th century until as recently as 1984 when, upon the death of the last surviving member of the family, the estate was purchased by American businessman Daniel Pena who restored the castle to its 19th century heyday. The Pena family regularly stay at Guthrie Castle, giving the venue a homely feel amidst the splendour.
